Wolverine Concept

Yep its another Wolvie post, but I can't help it, he is just so much fun to work on!
So this came about after I watched the teaser trailer for the upcoming Marvel's Wolverine game by Insomniac Games.
There's no face reveal of the old Canucklehead in the trailer, so I thought it would be fun to imagine I was in charge of his design and to get him looking how I imagine the character should look like. Insomniac did such a kickass job with Spiderman I know they are going to do a great job!
For his outfit I kept to a casual style chequered shirt and jeans similar to the trailer but I removed the hat so we could see more of his iconic hairstyle.
When creating his face I took a lot of inspiration from some of my favourite artist versions of the character such as Jim Lee and Joe Madureira. I also added in some Mel Gibson in there too, after all I said in a previous piece I think Mel would have made an incredible Wolverine back in his Braveheart Days.
For this I wanted to convey Wolverines short, stocky and powerfully built frame. Often I see Wolverine portrayed as too lean and rangy, but that's not really his body-type.
